other characters: spottedleaf & patchpaw. canon character? yes.
name: graypaw [stripe]. gender: male. age: six moons. clan: thunderclan. rank: apprentice.
------------------------------------------------------------------------->
short appearance: longhaired gray tom. appearance: Graypaw is a tom who really does make himself known whenever he’s around, and a major part of that is due to his appearance. Really, he’s a rather large tom, not much bigger than most cats, but enough to make him seem a bit more of a solid cat. Even though he’s only young, this tom’s thick limbs already show signs of developing muscles, proving he’ll be a strong cat when he gets older, with his larger-than-average paws proving that he’d still got a fair way to grow before he’ll be fully grown. With a tail that is slightly shorter than most cats, but not enough to matter and his strong back legs, it doesn’t take much to figure out he’s a ThunderClan cat, even more so with his solid looks. Graypaw’s face is what really gives him feeling though, with his medium-sized ears and muzzle which is slightly closer to his face than most, again, not enough to really notice though.
Graypaw is named as many would guess because of his pelt, which is a rich dark gray. His pelt itself is on the long side, tending to always be fluffed up and rather messy-looking, even if it really quite soft. He’s long since given up trying to keep his thick pelt in check. His gray pelt though, is marked distinctively by one darker, thick stripe that runs from his head, down his spine to the tip of his tail, which is what really does give him a unique sort of look. His eyes are one thing that tends to catch everyone’s attention though, being rather large and rounded, and glowing bright, deep amber. It’s incredible really, how much his eyes contrast to his pelt which really adds to his personality in ways. Graypaw is really a rather handsome young tom, who still has a large gap to grow.
------------------------------------------------------------------------->
likes/strengths: - Fighting - Lying About - Training dislikes/weaknesses: - Other Clans - Death - Breaking the Warrior Code personality: Graypaw has always been known as a rather laid-back sort of cat, which really tends to get on a lot of nerves around the clan. He’s not lazy or misbehaving, quite the opposite actually, always trying to do what he believes is best, though preferring to only do what he’s told and really it’s hard to find Graypaw lying about. It is just that he never takes things too seriously, always trying to see the brighter side, or not really seeing how important different problems may be. This young tom has a fierce loyalty toward his clan and always feels the need to enforce the clan’s old codes, even if they may be already questioned. This mainly concerns the young Firepaw and his entrance into the clan. Really, Graypaw is a keen learner, wanting to be the best in the clan and he isn’t afraid to let everyone else know his plans, and can be quite the show-off and a tad boastful most of the time.
Once again, his main problem is that he doesn’t like to get himself involved the problems that are bigger than being an apprentice, or many problems at all unless he’s told to, instead wanting to focus on his goal of becoming one of the best warriors in ThunderClan’s history. When it’s not the time to joke about, he doesn’t always realise it, unless he is directly involved and when it does count, he can be dead serious, knowing that when it comes down to it, being an idiot won’t get you anywhere, but this never gets into his head fulltime, as he does prefer to be the cat boasting and making jokes. Mind you, he does have quite the potential to be a good deputy, or maybe even a leader if he learned the proper ways to go about it. He has a certain way with other cats which he can often help to encourage them or give some sort of comfort.
When Graypaw gets attached to someone, as a friend or something more, he is attached to them for life, and can be as loyal to them as he is to his clan, always willing to stand by their side. Of course, the main example of this is Firepaw, who really is his closest friend when it comes down to it, and he’d die to help the young tom who must be important or have something if Bluestar took him into the clan. He is a fairly popular apprentice around the camp, even if he doesn’t quite agree with the views of all of his den-mates. This leads onto his enemies. Graypaw is a cat who can hold something against a cat for a long time and takes a while to forgive cats, even more so if they are from other clans, but this has never so far and never will lead to him abandoning all morals. one-sentence personality: Graypaw is a very laid-back, optimistic tom who doesn't always understand thing unless they are explaine din black and whtie.
------------------------------------------------------------------------->
history: Graykit was born in late leaf-fall and was the only kit in the litter from his parents Willowpelt and Patchpelt at the time. Really, he’d always adored his parents, even though Patchpelt was getting on in moons and would soon be retiring to the elders den. As a young kit, from the first time he’d opened his eyes and figured out he had legs, Graykit had always wanted to explore and would never stay too close to his mother for long, until she dragged him back to feed or just chat. They had a close relationship, that was for sure and really, he loved his mothers. As he grew a bit older, he started to make close friends with the other kits in the nursery, the main two being Ravenkit and Frostkit. It didn’t take much to convince the two other toms, along with Sandkit and Dustkit who were the older members of the nursery, along to explore outside the den.
By the time he’d reached six moons, a moon after Sandpaw and Dustpaw had become apprentices, he couldn’t have been more proud to become an apprentice, and the queens couldn’t be more pleased and relieved that the young kits were finally being tossed into a mentor’s care. Patchpelt from that ceremony always said that Bluestar must have seen something in him, after he was given to Lionheart to be the golden tom’s apprentice, so he always holds his mentors name in high respects, even more so now that the tom is the deputy. Of course, before Lionheart became the deputy, there was the important event, just after he became an apprentice, when he came in contact with the kittypet called Rusty. The ginger tom fought well for a house cat, and really he was proud when Bluestar and Lionheart praised him for how he’d challenged the tom.
When Rusty became Firepaw and joined the clan, he first wasn’t sure what side to take, Sandpaw and Dustpaw’s, who were appalled that a kittypet had joined the clan, or the side of his new friend. Of course, he’d evened up on Firepaw’s side and now he can barely stand the other apprentices more than ever. It wasn’t long after that, when Firepaw and he were told about Redtail’s death by Ravenpaw. Now, a dark shadow seems to hang over all their heads and Graypaw isn’t too sure where his apprenticeship will go.

roleplaying sample: No! No no no no no! It couldn't be true! Of course, his eyes said differently, but, he couldn't believe it, he just couldn't. His legs no longer wanted to support his weight, his whole figure shaking with the effort of standing up, as he looked, petrified at Fireheart's body, lying still at his paws in the middle of the camp. Searing hot tears burnt at his eyes, his whole chest constricted into a ball the size of an acorn, pain running through his veins like poison. He couldn't remain standing any longer, collasping next to his friends stiff body, his nose presse dinto the tom's lifeless ginger fur. He couldn't move, it was too much effort, as his grief, displayed in the thick droplets of salty water leaked down his cheeks, dropping into Fireheart's still pelt.
No, no, this is a nightmare, an awful nightmare! He howled inside his head, a light whimper escaping his jaws as he tried to hold back from yowling at the top of his lungs. I'm going to wake up, and he's going to be tossing about in his nest waking everyone else up like normal! He kept telling himself this, but, his heart knew otherwise, that was why every thump against his chest felt like he was being slammed into a rock, over and over again, his heartbeat thundering through his ears. He couldn't hear anything apart from his own heartbeat, feel anything but Fireheart's still body against his face and the boiling tears that scorched his face, or smell anything but his friend's slightly stale scent, mingled amongst his pale ginger fur, that had lost it's shine.
He could tell there were other cats around, but he didn't care, not now. pressing his face deeper into his best friend's fur, he let out a chocked sob, his whole body pulled into a small ball, his tail wrapped around his paws. How was he meant to get on without Fireheart here? Things would never be the same ever again. he wouldn't want it that way anyways. Nuzzling his cheek against Fireheart's side, his eyes sqeezed shut, Graystripe tried to wake himself up, from this terrible dream.
